Division 1
Division 1 is the third highest league in Sweden and many of these teams will bring in import players. Like the Division 2 leagues, the southern series seem to be a better place to play as far as the quality of hockey, interest in the community and media, and the economy of the teams. Some of the Division 1 teams in the Stockholm area draw very few people to the games because they are competing with numerous Allsvenskan and Elitseries teams in the close vicinity. Whereas teams in the series like 1E and 1F draw very well, the level of play is higher and they clubs are run more professionally. You don't necessarily need an agent when talking to these teams although it may help. A lot of these teams have ambitions of moving up to Allsvenskan and therefore try to run the organization professionally and are looking for professional players. But every team will operate differently as they are looking for different players and have different budgets. Teams like Karlskrona, Olofström, Mörrum, Vita Hästen, Mariestad and some others usually carry imports and have larger budgets to do so. If you are looking to play at this level your resume should have some experience in a league like the UHL, CHL or another minor pro league in the US. If you are a player of this level even if you don't have an agent you should be able to find a place to play in Division 1. As far as the size of contract it'll really vary from club to club and your resume, but you should be able to expect somewhere between 2,000 and 4,000 US per month plus apartment and car and maybe some other perks. Not huge money but you'll have no problem living on that here. Another factor that can vary a lot is the actual town you are in. Some of these towns are a pretty good size and very nice while others are really small and don't offer a lot outside the rink. If that is something that matters to you then you should do a little research, or you can email me at the address at the top and I can give you my opinion.
