Division 2

Although Division 2 is the fourth level of Swedish hockey, it can still be fairly good hockey and there are teams that will bring over imports. It can be a good way to get your foot in the door if you cannot get a contract at a higher level. I played at this level when I first went to Sweden and I played with other North Americans as well as guys from other European countries. At this level not every team will have the economy to bring in imports but there are some that will. The money won't be huge but it will be enough to live off while you are there and you should get an apartment, use of a car and maybe also a part time job that will give you some extra money and something to do. If you want to play in Sweden and can't get a contract at a higher level then there is nothing wrong with playing Division 2. It's a good way to play some fun hockey and also use hockey to get you the experience of living in another country. Division 2 teams will usually play 27-36 regular season games plus about 8 or 10 training games and then hopefully playoffs. If you are looking at this level, I would strongly recommend one of the 2 southern series as they are much better than the others as far as quality of play, general interest from the community, economy, and probably how interested they will be in bringing in imports. I've posted the teams info from these series in the page at the top. You don't need an agent to help you at this level. I would suggest contacting teams on your own, send them your resume and just sell yourself. If you have played Junior A, or college hockey in the States (even a good D3 player) then you should do fine here.
